SOCIAL SCIENCE
In Canterbury's Grade 1 - 4 classrooms, our social science curriculum serves as a scaffold, building upon the foundational knowledge acquired in early childhood. Tailored to nurture a more expansive worldview, our curriculum is thoughtfully crafted to cultivate inquisitive minds and foster a deeper understanding of the diverse tapestry of humanity. In Grade 2, students embark on a journey through time, exploring what it was like to be a child living in the 1800s. They visit Cracker Country, immersing themselves in the sights and sounds of the past. Additionally, Grade 4 students delve into Florida history, culminating in an enriching overnight field trip to St. Augustine alongside their teachers and parents. Through these immersive experiences, students don't just study history—they live it, gaining firsthand insights into the lives and legacies that have shaped our world.
