Math

The upper school Math curriculum encompasses a broad range of mathematical concepts, aiming to build a solid foundation for more advanced studies. Students learn to manipulate numbers, solve equations, understand geometric principles, and interpret data through graphs and charts. The curriculum often emphasizes problem-solving and critical thinking, encouraging students to apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations. Overall, the middle school math curriculum strives to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in higher-level math and practical applications in everyday life.

The math department at Canterbury School of Florida is staffed with passionate teachers committed to teaching, challenging, and encouraging students in their study of mathematics. Our mission is to guide, teach, and support all students to help them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that apply to all facets of life, from managing personal finances to making informed decisions. Regardless of mathematical abilities, our goal is for all students to leave our classroom with an enhanced ability to question, analyze, and evaluate problems they will encounter throughout their lives.

  2. How is mathematics used to measure, model, and calculate change?

  3. What patterns are in the information we collect, and how are they useful?

  4. How can data be expressed so that its accurate meaning is concisely presented to a specific audience?

  5. How do graphs of mathematical models and data help us better understand the world in which we live?
