The Driver Education Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel Training Course is a blend of classroom theory and practice. Upon course completion students will earn an elective credit of .5 points.

A blend of the AAA curriculum, ADSTEA curriculum, Drive Right Curriculum, and the Florida Driver Manual will be used for classroom instruction.

Requirements to register:

• Students must complete a minimum of 30 classroom hours and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
• Students must be eligible for his/her permit by September 15 of the fall semester and February 15 of the spring semester to sign up.
• Students are required to complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training; time not completed during school hours must be completed outside of school hours (after school and/or weekends).
  

After passing Classroom Theory and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training, the students will receive a certificate of completion (often submitted for an insurance discount at the discretion of the insurance company).

Upon completion of the requirements listed above, students may test for their driver license with Ms. Suchanek at her discretion.

Behind-the-Wheel Training ONLY

• Students will receive 6 hours of behind the wheel training.
• Driving lessons can begin once the student has a permit.
• All lessons will occur after school or on weekends.

Rules and Guidelines

• A 24 hour advanced written (email) notice is required for any unavoidable cancellation.
• No cell phone usage in any way by the student driver or any passenger in the Canterbury School of Florida driver education vehicle.
• No food or drinks other than water are permitted in the vehicle
• I understand my student may be a passenger in the Canterbury School of Florida vehicle with a student driver

I, name listed in field above, wish to be a passenger in a Canterbury School of Florida vehicle. I recognize that I will be exposed, not only to routine risks of vehicular travel, but will be exposed as well to all inherent dangers arising from being a passenger with other new drivers as well as myself learning to drive, which could cause me property damage, personal injury and/or bodily injury including death. For and in consideration of permission to be a passenger in a Canterbury School of Florida vehicle, and Canterbury School of Florida relying materially thereon in granting such permission, I agree to release, forever discharge and hold harmless Canterbury School of Florida, and all employees from any liability or claim of liability which might arise out of my presence in a Canterbury School of Florida vehicle. I further agree to defend Canterbury School of Florida, and all employees at no cost to Canterbury School of Florida, against any claim of liability and/or cause of action asserted against them arising out of my presence in a Canterbury School of Florida vehicle and/or associated driver’s education training activity.

PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN PERMISSION AND ASSUMPTION OF LIABILITY

As Parent/Guardian I hereby grant my permission for the above named minor child to participate in the above referenced activity. I acknowledge, agree and understand that said participation involves risks and inherent dangers that may cause injury and/or death. On behalf of myself and the minor child above, I agree to release and forever discharge Canterbury School of Florida and all employees, and assume the liability and obligation referenced above.
